These instructional design courses are on your terms. You are in control of what, how, and where you learn. Specializing in theories and models allows students to gain the experience needed to build a curriculum for future learning centers. The courses will provide a personalized and highly interactive experience in website design and curriculum development. Students will gain the skills needed to lead educational professionals in instructional design and development throughout the academic community.

Overview

Courses are focused on pedagogical theories as they relate to instructional design, and on existing and emerging models of instructional design. Topics include major schools of thoughts on how people learn, instructional and learning theories, and instructional design models and principle.

● Design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.

● Apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environments and experiences.

● Identify, locate, and evaluate technology resources for their accuracy and suitability.

● Plan for the management of technology resources within the context of learning activities.

● Plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.

EDT 600

This course provides students with an in-depth overview of the field of Instructional Technology. Topics include the history, critical issues, emerging trends, key concepts of the field; and basic technology operations and concepts.

EDT 610

This course focuses on pedagogical theories as they relate to instructional design, and on existing and emerging models of instructional design. Topics include major schools of thoughts on how people learn, instructional and learning theories, and instructional design models and principles.

EDT 620

This course focuses on how to integrate technology into the curriculum to effectively support and enhance learning. It provides students with opportunities to apply the principles and methods of technology integration by designing and developing real life technology-based projects. Topics include technology integration frameworks and strategies, and technology integration across the curriculum (language arts, math and science, foreign languages, social studies, music and art, physical and health education, and special education).

EDT 630

This course is designed to develop students' technical skills in multimedia design and development for instructional purposes. Topics include visual design principles, desktop publishing, digital graphics, and digital audio and digital video.

EDT 650

This course provides supervised practice in applying students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes of instructional technology through placement in an appropriate work setting. It is intended to be a self-initiated and self-directed project which culminates students' interest and learning in the area of instructional technology. Prerequisites: EDT 600, EDT 610, EDT 620, EDT 630, EDT 640 or Permission of Instructor
